Principal's Message

For over twenty-five years, our purpose at Jordao High School has remained constant: to provide a solid and meaningful education in an environment where every student is known as an individual. We are intentionally a small school, with a community of fewer than 120 learners, because we are convinced that true learning flourishes not in crowded hallways, but in classrooms where teachers and students build real relationships.

This is the practical meaning of our tagline. For us, excellence is not a ranking or a trophy. It is the quiet confidence of a student who finally grasps a difficult concept because a teacher took the extra time to explain it differently. It is the pride in a piece of art, a dramatic performance, or a design project that a student never thought they could create. Our small classes and dedicated, SACE-registered teachers make this possible. We see our students, we listen to them, and we value what they have to say.

We pursue this through a rigorous CAPS curriculum, but we also understand that intelligence takes many forms. This is why we proudly offer specialist subjects in Art, Drama, and Design, where students often find their voice and uncover hidden talents.

We instil pride not through expensive uniforms, but through a sense of belonging. Our informal dress code is designed for comfort and practicality, and we see personal presentation as an expression of respect for themselves, their peers, and their learning environment.

We build a culture of respect every day. In our diverse South African community, we actively teach that dignity is non-negotiable. Our clear policies on bullying, substance abuse, and electronic devices are our commitment to safeguarding a space where every child feels safe to be themselves.

We are honest about what we are and what we are not. Our premises in Towerby are secure and functional, and we focus our resources on quality teaching and individual support.
